Where would I be able to catch a brown trout?

I was just wondering. Could I find them in a stream or a pond, lake? Thank you.

They are very widespread across the country – they originally came from Germany – they rapidly became popular in some circles – others saw them as an intrusive species.

They are more tolerant than brook trout are when it comes to water temperature and they tend to be more selective in their eating habits when compared to rainbow or brook trout.

I’ve seen them in many streams and lakes but not many ponds unless they were specifically put there – they grow fairly quickly if there is an adequate food source – smaller fish, crayfish and aquatic insects.
If you check your states Fish & game website they can usually help – they can tell you where you can find them in your state – Virginia has an awesome website and the webmaster responds to emails in a very timely manner too.
